Rambo Prequel Filming Boosts Thailand’s Economy, Targets 2027 Release Revenue

The journey to unravel the origins of one of cinema’s most iconic action figures has begun with the production of “John Rambo,” a prequel delving into the youth of the character made famous in the 1982 film “First Blood.” This fresh take on the legendary action hero is being filmed in various scenic locales across Thailand, such as Bangkok, Krabi, Phang Nga, and Kanchanaburi. These diverse settings, blending urban areas with rugged terrains, aim to authentically capture the backdrop of Rambo’s formative years.

In a bold casting choice, Noah Centineo has been selected to portray the young John Rambo, stepping into shoes that were originally filled by Sylvester Stallone. The film is helmed by Jalmari Helander, whose work on the action thriller “Sisu” has been widely recognized. The screenplay is crafted by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani, promising to offer a deep dive into the early life experiences that forged Rambo into a formidable figure.

While the storyline remains under wraps, it is anticipated that the narrative will explore the pivotal events and influences that set the protagonist on his future path. Serving as an executive producer on the project, Stallone contributes his expertise to a team of seasoned filmmakers and producers, supported by partnerships from several major production companies.

The Rambo series stands as one of the most successful action franchises in Hollywood, with five films collectively grossing over $800 million globally. This prequel represents the first significant effort to explore the character’s backstory, aiming to engage a new audience with the timeless saga of the legendary soldier.

As anticipation builds, “John Rambo” is slated for a 2027 release, promising to introduce audiences to the untold chapters of a storied hero’s life.
